Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is situated at about 25km away from Dwarka. Here, Shiva is worshiped as Nageshwar and Parvati as Nageshwari. It is also famous that Lord Krishna used to do anointment of Shiva Linga here.
There are designs of circles (chakra) on the roof of temple which appears like Trimukhi Rudraksha.
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga – Story of Daruka
A female demon Daruka did a very hard austerity to please Parvati. When Parvati appeared she asked a boon to carry the beautiful forest with her wherever she go. Parvati granted her wish and she became the mistress of the whole forest.
She asked the boon by saying that she want to carry the resources of the forest to those who are in need of them but in reality she wanted to uplift the demons.
For the prosperity of demons she had the resources of forest but she needed the workforce. For the labor, Daruka ordered demons to capture humans who spend their time in prayers only.
Demons captured a lot of humans and was forcing them to work in the forest. They refused to work as they were worshiping Lord Shiva. Demons started beating them and they cried for help.
Shiva appeared and stopped everybody. Daruka said that she got the boon from mother Parvati and for the welfare of demons, she require a workforce. These people doesn’t work at all and spend their time in worshiping only.
Parvati came there and threatened Daruka for misusing her boon. She had doubts regarding what is wrong in working.
Shiva enlightened everybody with the right meaning of duties. Nobody can force anyone to do anything. Life is made of stages in which a being need to fulfill all their duties.
People should equally contribute in worship, earning, family and Moksha. Nothing is superior than other. One should not only worship but work to fulfill their basic needs and some savings. One should not depend on Gods for protection, else they should fight for themselves.
After getting enlightened, both people and Daruka was satisfied and requested Mahadev to bless the place with His energies. Shiva converted the linga created by people into a Jyotirlinga which is known as Nageshwar Jyotirlinga. It removes doubts and fill positive energies in devotees.
