Panchang is the source of vedic information related to festivals and planetary positions. It is determined by the science of Astrology. Indian calendars works in a different way than the Gregorian calendars. There are Lunar cycles which defines the type of paksha and dates within them. A zodiac sign and Nakshatra is associated with the day. It also displays the auspicious and inauspicious timings within a day with the help of which people can easily schedule their tasks.

Apart from all this, a panchang can show you the timings of sunrise and sunset. Similarly it can display the timings of moonrise and moonset.
